ACTRESS Courteney Cox has flown into Ireland with fiance, Derry musician Johnny McDaid, to film a new television show in Co Kerry.

The Friends star told fans yesterday she was due to begin filming an episode of adventurer Bear Grylls' Running Wild series in which he accompanies different celebrities to test their survival skills.

"In Ireland as my love @johnnymcdaid sends me off into the wilderness for the @beargrylls show. It's already raining!" Cox tweeted.

Cox (52) began seeing Snow Patrol band member McDaid (39) in 2013 and they got engaged the following year.

The actress and McDaid, from the Culmore area of Derry, briefly split up at the end of last year but later reunited and have been seen at several events together, including the Ivor Novello Awards in May.

Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, welcomed Cox and Grylls' visit to Kerry.

"This positive exposure and celebrity endorsement for Kerry and the South West is all good news for tourism," he said.

"It's a fantastic way to bring Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way to the attention of millions of people everywhere, inspiring them to put Ireland on their holiday 'wish list' for 2016."

US president Barack Obama and actress Kate Winslet are among the celebrities who have taken part in Grylls' programme.
