Two men have died in a house fire in Co Cork.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at a house in St Coleman's Park in Macroom at around 4am.

After it was brought under control, the bodies of the two victims were discovered inside.

One was aged in his 60s and the other in his 20s. They were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies taken to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem examination.

A woman who jumped from an upstairs window has been taken to hospital for treatment.

It is not thought her injuries are life threatening.

A man believed to be a neighbour, who had tried to get into the burning house, is also being treated for what are believed to be minor injuries.

A Garda spokesman said: "Early indications are that the fire started accidentally."

Investigators have appealed for witnesses. The scene was sealed off ahead of an examination by forensic experts.
