Man (41) dies in ‘accidental' Cork city shooting

A 41-YEAR-OLD man died in a shooting in Cork city.

The shooting happened shortly after 4.30pm in Ballyphehane in the south side of the city on Tuesday.

Paramedics attended the scene but the man was pronounced dead before he could be transferred to Cork University Hospital.

It is understood the man died after a shotgun, which was being prepared for a hunting trip, was accidentally fired.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate but said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shooting.
