TRIPADVISOR has named Harvey's Point in Co Donegal as Ireland's best hotel, just two months after the hotel was named number one by Trivago.

Two hotels in the north have also been included on the site's list of the top 25 hotels in the UK, although both were absent from similar rankings by price comparison site Trivago in November.

The Bushmills Inn Hotel in Bushmills, Co Antrim, was ranked number 12 on the UK list, while Belfast's Tara Lodge took the number 19 spot.

Harvey's Point in Donegal Town also took the top sport in Trivago's inaugural Top Hotel Awards in Ireland in November.

Hotels across Ireland were ranked using the 'Trivago rating index' which combined more than 190 million online ratings from over 30 different websites worldwide.

Hotels in Ulster held their own against the rest of Ireland, with three more hotels in the top twenty.

Pinetrees Bed & Breakfast in Ballymoney is rated as the fourth best hotel in Ireland, while The Gregory in Belfast and Derry's Rose Park House are ranked at number 14 and 17 respectively.
