Gardai in Co Kerry are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occured on the Lisselton to Ballybunion Rd this morning.

The collision between a car and a pedestrian occurred at approximately 4am at Barnadarrig, Ballybunion. The male pedestrian (24) was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The 25-year-old man driving of the car was taken to Tralee General Hospital but his injuries are described as not serious.

The road is currently closed between Lisselton Cross and Ahafone Cross to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination and diversions are in place.

Gardai in Listowel are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on the Lisselton to Ballybunion Rd between 2am and 4am to contact them in Listowel on 068 21000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
