HERE is the schedule for Pope Francis's two-day visit to Ireland.

Saturday

8.15am - Depart by plane from Rome/Fiumicino for Dublin

10.30am - Arrive at Dublin International Airport and official welcome

11.30am - Visit President Michael D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin

12.10pm - Meeting with authorities, civil society and diplomatic corps in Dublin Castle. Speech by Pope Francis

3.30pm - Visit to St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, followed by journey through Dublin city centre on Popemobile to greet crowds

4.30pm - Private visit to day centre for homeless families of Capuchin Fathers

7.45pm - Feast of Families in Croke Park stadium. Speech followed by special concert in Pope's honour.

:: Sunday

8.40am - Departure by plane for Knock

9.45am - Visit to Chapel of Knock Shrine where Francis will say The Angelus in the square

10.45am - Return to Knock airport and depart for Dublin

11.50am - Arrive at Dublin International Airport. Lunch with the Papal Delegation

2.30pm - Arrival at Phoenix Park for Mass at 3pm. Meeting with bishops in the Convent of the Dominican Sisters.

6.30pm - Arrival at Dublin International Airport for farewell ceremony

6.45pm - Departure by plane for Roma/Ciampino
