UUP leader Mike Nesbitt made what had been billed as a "significant announcement" at Stormont today and in the lead-up to what was correctly presumed to be confirmation that his party was withdrawing from the power-sharing Executive the Irish News asked Twitter what it thought the announcement would be.

It started with Top Gear speculation.

Next it was suggested that the politician could be joinng Daniel O'Donnell on BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

ITV's X Factor got a mention too.

And there was speculation about a return to journalism, or at the very least a bid for his former employer UTV which is in talks to sell his television assets.

And it ended with one man suggesting Mr Nesbitt was stepping into Zayn Malik's shoes with boyband One Direction which, as it turned out, was a good guess, but not good enough.

Mike Nesbitt would fit quite comfortably in this line up don't you think?
