Shock following sudden death of councillor Glenn Finlay (41)

An independent councillor in Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for the Dunsilly area, has died suddenly.

Glenn Finlay (41) was suspended from the Alliance Party six months ago due to "ongoing investigations". He was a former vice chair of the party.

Mr Finlay remained in his council role as an independent.

In a statement, an Alliance Party spokesperson said: “We are shocked by the sudden death of Glenn Finlay. We would ask people respect the privacy of his family at this very difficult time and we extend to them our sincerest condolences.”
