A "reckless and dangerous" video showing a young man lying on top of a moving Glider bus in west Belfast is being investigated by police.

Translink strongly criticised a TikTok video showing the man jumping on top of a Glider and filming himself as it moves down the Falls Road into Belfast city centre.

In the video, the young man said he jumped on top of the bus because he had "lost my ticket going into town".

The video, which shows the bus passing a police station, appears to have since been removed from TikTok.

A Translink spokeswoman said the company had reported the video to police.

"We strongly condemn this extremely reckless and dangerous act which puts lives at risk," she said.

"The safety of our staff and passengers is our top priority and we operate a reward scheme, offering up to £1,000 for anyone prepared to give evidence in court which will lead to a conviction."

A police spokeswoman said it is investigating after officers "received a report relating to a video circulating on social media".

"An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with any information which can assist police with their enquiries is asked to contact 101, and quote reference number 566 of 18/05/22."
