A 42-year old Co Down man was jailed today for a year for drugs offences arising from three separate searches of his home.

David Jenkins of Colby Court in Newcastle appeared at Belfast Crown Court via videolink from Maghaberry and was sentenced for 11 offences spanning across 2020.

The sentence will run concurrently to a 20-month sentence imposed on Jenkins for drugs offences committed in September 2019.

Jenkins was charged with three sets of offences following separate searches of his then Hopewell Crescent home in Belfast in 2020.

The police searches were conducted on February 13, May 9 and October 15, and items seized included cannabis, cocaine and criminal property in the form of money amounting to £7,345.

The Crown branded Jenkins offending as "low level supply in order to fund his own habit and provide a modest profit".

As she jailed Jenkins, Judge Donna McColgan QC said the most serious offences were charges of being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug cocaine.

The judge added: "Having been detected in respect of the offences in September 2019, the defendant then went on and committed further offences in February, May and October 2020".
