AN Aontú assembly candidate has said she will not "give up" after almost 40 election posters belonging to her were stolen over Easter.

Denise Mullen, who is standing for the pro-life party in the Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituency, spoke out after another round of thefts in the early hours of Monday.

Ms Mullen last night said several posters belonging to her were also stolen in the Edendork area outside Dungannon.

Ms Mullen said the culprits were caught by CCTV putting the posters into a car before driving off.

She added that the registration number of the car had been recorded and that the PSNI have been contacted.

The Aontú representative also revealed that between Good Friday and Easter Tuesday 37 posters were stolen from lampposts in the Moy, Killyman and Dungannon areas.

Ms Mullen believes both loyalists and people linked to rival nationalist parties are responsible.

Her father Denis was shot dead by the UVF in September 1975.

The sitting councillor said she will not be put off by the thefts.

"I feel it was a personal attack on me, I don't warrant this," she said.

"I would not do this to anybody else.

"Obviously they think I am a threat.

"I was born into a family of civil rights - we don't give up."

The poster thefts are the latest in a spate targeting several parties over recent weeks.

The PSNI was contacted.
