THE funeral of a man who died after being stabbed in west Belfast took place today.

Family and friends of Jim Crossley (38) gathered at St Michael Church the Archangel Church on Finaghy Road North to say their final farewells following his death last week.

Floral tributes, which included a specially made Glasgow Celtic football shirt and the word, 'Daddy', adorned the hearse as it made its way to the church.

Mr Crossley was from a well-known family and was a brother of former Celtic FC and Cliftonville player Gerry Crossley.

He died after being stabbed at a house in the Filbert Drive area of Dunmurry on March 1.

A 31-year-old woman appeared in court in Lisburn last week charged with his murder and was released on bail.
