Six further deaths of patients who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 have been reported by the Department of Health.

The total number of deaths now stands at  2,635.

Another 1,423 cases of the virus have been recorded in the last 24 hours .

This morning, there were 355 Covid-positive patients in hospital, of whom 33 were in intensive care. Of these, 22 are on ventilators.

Hospitals in the north are oover capacity by 225 beds.

To date 2,593,676 vaccines have been administered.

Today's figures were released after Health Minister Robin Swann confirmed almost 30,000 Covid vaccine booster doses have been administered in Northern Ireland.

Robin Swann also gave an assurance that there was no shortage of booster doses available after concerns were raised by an MLA.

Meanwhile, in the Republic of Ireland there have been an additional 2,148 confirmed cases of Covid-19, deputy chief medical officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said.

As of this morning, there were 464 patients in hospital with the virus, with 86 of those in intensive care units.
