Police advise of traffic disruption during tomorrow's Belfast City Marathon

POLICE have advised motorists of number of road closures across Belfast tomorrow as the City Marathon takes place.

Thousands of runners are expected to take part in the 26.2 mile event, which begins at 9am at Stormont and which will follow a route around the city.

All events, including the marathon, Team Relay, and Eight Mile Walk, finish at the Ormeau Park.

However, the Fun Run begins and ends at the Stormont Estate.

The marathon route encompasses north, east, south and west of the city.

Motorists have been warned to expect disruption with roads beginning to close fully or partially from 6am.

Disruption is likely to last until around 4.30pm, with the reopening of road managed once all runners have passed points on the route.

Roads due to be affected include the Upper Newtownards Road, Albertbridge Road, Ravenhill Road, Ormeau Road, Wellington Place, Donegall Square, Donegall Road, Boucher Road, Lisburn Road, Finaghy Road North, Andersonstown Road, Falls Road, Springfield Road, Shankill Road, Cliftonville Road, Dunbar Link and Lanyon Place.
