A MAN armed with a gun tried to hijack a lorry before the vehicle was torched in north Belfast yesterday afternoon.

Shortly before 1.30pm, the armed man threatened the driver while the lorry was parked on Hillview Road.

The driver left the lorry before it was set alight.

The lorry was completely destroyed in the attack.

A police spokesman said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the driver who has been left shaken by the incident but thankfully no injuries were reported.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."
