A man has sustained two suspected broken eye sockets and a broken nose during a sectarian hate crime assault in north Belfast.

Police said the victim was attacked by three men while he was walking his dog in `Throne Wood', a small wooded area running from Whitewell Road to the Antrim Road.

The assault occurred at approximately 10pm on Wednesday, August 25.

The victim suffered two suspected broken eye sockets and a broken nose.

He was also subjected to sectarian abuse.

Police, who are treating the assault as a sectarian hate crime, have appealed for information.
