DERRY YouTube star and Blue Peter presenter Adam B is to host his own Saturday night show.

The 21-year-old has unveiled a new studio in his hometown from which he intends broadcasting the shows on YouTube.

With more than three million subscribers to his YouTube channel, Adam Beales, known as Adam B, is among the most successful YouTubers in Ireland or Britain.

His regular videos, in which he often pranks his younger brother or mum, are hugely popular - particularly among pre-teens and younger teenagers.

He has also shared his success with his family when last year he surprised them with the keys to a new home, while earlier this year, he presented his mum with the keys to a new Mercedes car – all captured on his YouTube channel.

His success culminated last year when he was revealed as the 40th presenter of the long-running popular BBC children’s programme, Blue Peter.

Beales now intends moving his YouTube channel onto a new level with fortnightly live Saturday night shows, featuring stunts, interviews, special guests and surprises.

He said the new venture started in April with the creation of a warehouse studio space in his native Derry.

"Lockdown has taught me that there are only so many videos you can do at your home until you reach a saturation point," he said.

"If I ever wanted to do a big video, I needed space and a roof over my head because you can’t depend on Irish weather."

Rather than travel to other studios and sets, he built his own and has teamed up with a local production company to produce the new shows, the first of which goes out tomorrow night at 7pm.

He said rehearsals for the new show started this week, with plans afoot for a new podcast from the studio.

"I am over the moon with how the place looks," he said.

"I can’t wait to finally show it on camera.

"It feels like a four-month side project and secret that I couldn’t tell anyone about. It’s a weight off my shoulders for sure."
