A civic nationalist group which is planning to hold a series of public meetings across Ireland in the coming months, said it is working to make the event more inclusive.

Ireland's Future has hosted talks and published several discussion papers since it was formed in 2019.

The group, which is made up of nationalists from all backgrounds, is urging politicians across Ireland, including the Dublin government, to plan for constitutional change.

A series of public events are set to take place in towns and cities across Ireland kicking off in Cork on September 25.

Billed as the 'All-Ireland Public Meetings - preparing for a united Ireland', the series of meetings will also be hosted at several venues in the north including in Armagh, Derry and Belfast.

Among those attending are Baptist Minister Rev Karen Sethuraman and Fianna Fail TD James O'Connor.

After announcing the event on social media some users questioned the make up of the panel's lack of minority ethnic speakers.

One commented: "Seriously? All white people for Ireland’s future. Really must do better."

Organisers removed the Tweet replying: "We are in the process of fixing it. Please give us a follow and join the conversation."

Earlier this year the group launched a paper outlining the economic advantages of a united Ireland.
