LABOUR Party leader Sir Keir Starmer has said he will remain neutral during tomorrow's major GAA game.

While an ardent soccer fan, the leader of the opposition told The Irish News he would not be shouting for either Derry or Donegal in their Ulster GAA quarter final.

Sir Keir raised eyebrows in March when he posted a picture of himself on social media wearing a Donegal top while playing football with friends.

In Derry for a series of political meetings yesterday, Sir Keir did, however, confess that his tickets for tomorrow's Euro finals at Wembley had arrived and stressed he would be rooting for his native England against Italy.

"I won't disclose on this one (Ulster GAA quarter final). What I will disclose is that I play football every Sunday and I wear a Donegal top which I proudly picked up in the year that my wife and I were married. We took a car from Belfast all the way around Ireland for three weeks and had a fantastic time in Donegal," he said.

"I picked up a football shirt and I wear it in Kentish town proudly every Sunday."
