THE mother of Noah Donahoe has levelled fresh criticism at the PSNI over its investigation into the disappearance and death of her son.

Fiona Donohoe, who has led a campaign for answers into her son's death, last night said her family disputes the police "line of enquiry".

The body of her 14-year-old son was found in a storm drain in north Belfast last year.

The St Malachy’s College pupil disappeared after leaving his home in the Ormeau Road area of south Belfast on his bike last June.

He had been making his way to Cave Hill Country Park to meet friends but never arrived.

The teenager was recorded by CCTV on his bike in the north Belfast area.

He was reportedly seen cycling naked and police initially said he may have fallen from his bike and possibly sustained a head injury, causing him to behave out of character.

Hundreds of people later took part in a search for the missing schoolboy.

A post-mortem examination later found Noah had died as a result of drowning and a full inquest is set to be heard next year.

Fiona Donohoe has previously said she has "so many issues" in her quest for answers about the death of her son and has raised questions about the PSNI approach to the search.

In March the family held a meeting with Chief Constable Simon Byrne during which they "conveyed our frustrations and concerns" about Noah's case.

Ms Donohoe re-stated her concern last night.

"At the very start of Noah going missing I put my trust as a member of the public in the authorities," she told Channel 4 News.

"I knew no different.

"My eyes are wide open now.

"This investigation, you know, my mind is blown by how little the police seem to have done.

"We as a family have done quiet a lot of investigation ourselves and we dispute their line of enquiry."

She added that "the authorities have done nothing except say no foul play".

Noah's aunt Niamh Donohoe discussed issues that the family believe remain unexplained.

The family want suggestions that Noah may have been assaulted near the city centre to be further investigated.

Ms Donohoe described her son as "my blessing" adding: "He was my everything, he is my everything.

She added: "All I want is a hug from Noah and I'm never going to get that hug and I have had to work through accepting that".

She said she remains open minded.

"Absolutely, myself and my sister, we have to be very realistic," she said.

"I have to as a parent look at every aspect including suicide.

"Nothing will bring Noah back but I have to do his name justice."

The PSNI, who have previously said that since the disappearance and death of Noah remains a coronial investigation, "any enquiries regarding that investigation should be directed to the coroner's office."
