Two Tyrone brothers face trail on ATM theft charges

Two County Tyrone brothers have been returned for trial on charges relating to a number of ATM heists containing almost £47,000 just over two years ago.

Appearing for a committal hearing were Matthew McClean (31) from Glenpark Road, Gortin and Robert McClean (26) from Carnalea Manor, Seskinore.

They are jointly charged with conspiring with others to steal an ATM containing £21,000 cash belonging to Cardtronics and a second ATM containing £25,935 cash from Risk Management Services.

Both are also charged with stealing a trailer valued at £2000.

These matters are alleged to have occurred on various dates between February 12 and March 25 2019.

Matthew McLean is further charged with receiving stolen goods, namely a low loader and a Hitachi digger belonging to Glentauras Construction Limited on dates between January 24 and May 10, 2019.

A prosecuting lawyer told Omagh Magistrates Court there is a case to answer which was agreed by District Judge Mark McGarrity.

Both brothers confirmed they understood the respective charges against them and declined to call witnesses or give evidence on their own behalf at this stage in proceedings.

Remanding the pair on continuing bail, Judge McGarrity ordered them to appear for arraignment at Dungannon Crown Court next month.
