A Co Tyrone man who was killed in a Co Louth crash will be remembered as "a jolly person who was always smiling".

Adam Wilson (25), from Gortin, passed away following a three-car crash on the N33 Ardee Link Road at around 8.10am on Tuesday.

His father, Ivan, who is believed to be aged in his late sixties, was travelling in the same car as his son and was injured in the collision.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

Michael McMahon, who was 54 and from Greenacres in Dundalk, was also killed in the crash while another man was injured. It is understood he remained in a critical condition in hospital last night.

Gardai have appealed for information about the collision.

Adam Wilson had worked as a Game Keeper at Beltrim Estate outside Gortin for the last 18 months, a job previously held by his father, Ivan.

Speaking to the Irish News, Richard Houston, owner of Beltrim Estate, said Adam was "always smiling".

He said Adam had previously helped his father on the estate before taking on the game keeper role himself.

"He was a very jolly person and was always smiling and full of jokes," he said.

"He had a great personality and loved his work"

Mr Houston said Adam had undertaken the journey on Tuesday with his father to "to collect some seed for the game crops".

He said it was "very shocking" to receive the tragic news.

"He was a natural country boy who got on with everybody and was always fun," he said.

"He was starting up a business. He was a super guy".

Ulster Unionist Councillor Bert Wilson said Adam's tragic death had caused "shock" in the local community in Gortin.

"The family would be well known," he said.

"There is a lot of shock. Even those who didn't know them, feel sad.

"The community and I are very sorry for the tragic loss and hope that his father makes a full recovery".
