POLICE said they seized a large amount of alcohol after a search of commercial premises in south Belfast.

The search was carried out in the Ormeau Road area after concerns were raised about the illegal sale of alcohol locally.

Police said they located 176 cases of beer, 50 cases of wine, 141 bottles of spirits, 72 litres of cider and 76 bottles of alcopops, which they suspect were being sold illegally in the local area.

A man was cautioned for the offence of selling intoxicating liquor without a licence and the investigation is ongoing.
