A MAN has been arrested and suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £510,000 has been seized in a joint police and customs’ operation at Larne Harbour.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraudulently importing Class B controlled drugs, possession and possession with intent to supply as well as importation and possession of an offensive weapon.

The operation was led by detectives from the PSNI’s organised crime unit.

Detective Superintendent Zoe McKee said detectives, working "alongside colleagues from UK Border Agency, HMRC, Roads and District Policing colleagues" were involved in the operation which stopped a lorry at Larne Harbour at around 7.10pm on Tuesday.

She said that "a large quantity of suspected cannabis was seized from the vehicle during the proactive policing operation."
