NEW Covid-related arrangements that enable MLAs to contribute to Stormont debates remotely will be introduced from Monday.

Members will be able to ask listed questions to ministers remotely at question time, as well as ask questions following a ministerial statement.

Ministers will still be asked to attend the Stormont chamber in person, however, if a minister is self-isolating and is unable to arrange an alternative minister to attend on their behalf, that minister may participate remotely.

Any member wishing to speak on a matter of the day, ask an urgent oral question, make a point of order, present a public petition, or move or wind a motion must be present in the chamber.

The speaker and deputy speakers will continue to be present in the chamber throughout all plenary proceedings.
