TWO brothers arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Danny McClean have been released unconditionally.

The men, aged 46 and 38, were arrested on Thursday by police investigating the killing of the father-of-two in north Belfast two days earlier.

Mr McClean was shot dead while sitting in a car on the Cliftonville Road.

On Saturday detectives were granted an additional 48 hours to question the men, who were arrested in north Belfast.

The victim had links to dissident republican group Oglaigh na hEireann (ONH) and previously served in the British army.

He was on bail facing weapons charges and having information likely to be of use to terrorists at the time of his murder.

The gunman is believed to be the same person responsible for the murder of Kieran Wylie in west Belfast last year.

A former doorman, My Wylie also had connections to dissident republicans.
