A security alert in Lurgan's Manor Drive is now over.

A suspicious object had been reported to police at around 7.35am.

PSNI Chief Inspector Barney O’Connor said the British Army's bomb disposal officers examined the object and found it to be an elaborate hoax.

"A number of residents who had been evacuated from their homes have been allowed to return," CI O'Connor said.

“I would like to thank the local community and especially those directly impacted for their patience and understanding while police worked to make the area safe."
