A window was smashed and "a large firework" thrown into a house in east Belfast, police have said.

It happened on Chamberlain Street in Ballymacarret at around 6.55pm yesterday.

Police said a man in his thirties was upstairs when the arson attack happened and managed to escape without injury.

Damage was caused to the living room and the living room window and it is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life, police added.
