Pro-Brexit campaign group Leave.EU has moved its registered office to Co Waterford in order to hold on to its '.eu' internet address.

The move came after more than 80,000 .eu domain suffixes held by British users were suspended after Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.

UK based suffix holders were recently contacted to inform them their domains were no longer compliant with its regulatory framework and were suspended until at least the end of March.

This means registrants do not have access to many features such as email or basic website services unless they relocate outside of Britain.

They are also unable to apply for any new .eu domains.

Leave.EU, bankrolled by UKIP backer Arron Banks, was a rival to Vote Leave campaign during the 2016 Brexit referendum campaign.

A hedge fund management company part owned by Pro-Brexit campaigner Jacob Rees-Mogg has also set up two funds in Dublin to give it continued access to the EU after Britain’s exit.
