FORMER pop star Jim Corr has been urged to check his facts after questioning whether the first person in the world to receive a Covid-19 vaccine may be an actor.

Margaret Keenan (91) received the virus jab in Coventry last month.

Originally from Co Fermanagh, she now lives in England.

Yesterday the pensioner's niece Geraldine McHugh, from Tempo in Co Fermanagh, rubbished suggestions that her aunt was not a real person.

Questions had earlier been raised on Twitter by Mr Corr, who is a former member of The Corrs.

In a Twitter exchange after Ms Keenan received the vaccine the guitarist said: "What an amazing 90-year-old woman.

"By the age of her children she must have had them while in her 60s."

Another Twitter user then suggested Ms Keenan may have been a 'crisis actor' who had her own acting profile and claimed that no-one of that name lived in Coventry.

Mr Corr then replied: "Yep, saw that. Big question mark about this person."

In response Ms McHugh said: "She's not an actor.

"She's an ordinary Irish woman that moved to England and is definitely not involved in acting or anything like that.

I had seen that old s***ty rumour. My daughter had said to me that there was rubbish going around about her being an actor but she's definitely not," she told Sunday Life.

Ms McHugh urged Mr Corr, whose Twitter account has been removed over an unrelated matter, to check his facts before posting online.

"I think whether Jim Corr puts anything on his social media he should check whether it's true or not," she added.
