Another 21 people have died in Northern Ireland after contracting Covid-19, the Department of Health has said.

Nine of the deaths occurred outside the current 24-hour reporting period.

There have also been 787 new confirmed cases of the virus.

Hospitals continue to experience high demand with 100 per cent of beds occupied and four hospitals operating beyond capacity; Antrim, Royal Victoria, South West Acute and the Ulster.

There are 451 patients who have tested positive for the virus with 32 of these in intensive care and 22 on ventilators.

Around the north, 86 care homes are dealing with outbreaks.

The figures were released as it was revealed that travellers entering Northern Ireland and planning to stay for at least 24 hours will have to self-isolate for 10 days.
