This year’s BBC Northern Ireland Christmas Appeal `Staying Connected at Christmas – overcoming loneliness, together', is a joint initiative with a group of local charities which aims to raise awareness of the effects of loneliness and provide information, support and advice on how everyone can play their part.

Peter Johnston, Director, BBC Northern Ireland, said: "Covid-19 has made this a difficult year in so many ways.

"Our aim is to provide local BBC audiences with entertainment and good company to brighten the Christmas holidays. And for those who are struggling with feelings of loneliness at this time, we hope that our special Christmas Appeal will provide encouragement, advice and support".
