THIS Morning presenters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford have reportedly been dropped from their Friday slot.

The couple, both aged 60, have presented the popular mid-morning show on Fridays since 2006.

It will instead be fronted by presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, according to reports.

It was said that Holmes and Langford will be asked to take over the main programme for six weeks over the summer when Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby go on their annual break.

The ITV show has previously been criticised for a lack of diversity among its presenters.

Belfast-born Mr Holmes was criticised by Ofcom earlier this year for “ill-judged” comments regarding conspiracy theories surrounding 5G masts spreading coronavirus.

The watchdog said his remarks "risked undermining viewers' trust in advice from public authorities and scientific evidence".

Many fans took to social media yesterday to express disappointment at the reported departure of the couple.

ITV did not confirm the news, saying only that any additions to the show's current "stellar" line up "will be announced in due course".
