A MAN was last night understood to have been shot in north Belfast.

The attack happened in the New Lodge area shortly after 8pm. Paramedics and police attended the scene.

Sinn Féin's Carál Ní Chuilín, an assembly member for north Belfast, condemned the shooting.

"Someone shot in New Lodge," she wrote on Twitter.

"Complete disgrace and residents here are really fed up with ongoing anti-social behaviour.

"Residents also told Sinn Féin (North Belfast) they are fed up with the area getting a bad reputation by a minority."
