THERE have been 923 new cases of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland confirmed in the last 24 hours, according to the Department of Health.

Some 4,674 cases have been reported in the last seven days, bringing the overall total number of cases confirmed in the region to 17,110.

One further death was confirmed, bringing the toll to 587.

It was also revealed that there are 120 people with Covid-19 being cared for in hospital, 15 of which are in intensive care, and 11 on ventilators.

In the Republic, its Department of Health said it had been notified of one further death and 506 new cases.

It brings to the number of Covid-19-related deaths to 1,817. There have now been 40,086 confirmed cases.

In a statement, the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) said that of the new cases, 240 were men and 265 were women. Almost two in every three were under 45 years of age.

Dublin had the highest number of new cases with 91, 76 were reported in Cork, and 53 in Donegal.

NPHET said almost 40 per cent were associated with outbreaks or were close contacts of a confirmed case while 59 had been identified as community transmission.

Meanwhile, it was announced that no countries will be on the Republic's travel green list from Monday.

Currently, there remain just four countries on the list – Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Liechtenstein.

Following a review of the latest data, no country was found to be below the required 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases.
