SUSPECTED drugs worth more than £82,000 were seized yesterday during searches targeting east Belfast UVF.

The operation was carried out in the Dundonald and east Belfast areas by the Paramilitary Crime Task Force and the PSNI's Organised Crime Unit.

Suspected cocaine and drug-dealing paraphernalia were recovered during a search of a property in the Dundonald area.

In east Belfast, police seized suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £80,000, suspected diazepam worth an estimated £2,000, approximately £2,400 in cash and some fireworks.

A detective inspector said the search operation was "part of a proactive investigation into suspected drugs criminality linked to the east Belfast UVF".
