Man rushed to hospital following Belfast stabbing

A MAN in his 20s is being treated in hospital for a stab wound to the abdomen following an incident in the Castle Street area of Belfast city centre.

Two people were arrested following a confrontation involving at least four men, in the busy shopping area at lunchtime today.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 1.49pm and one man was rushed to hospital via ambulance.

A second man, who also may have sustained a stab wound to the head, is thought to have fled the area before receiving treatment.

Two people were arrested at the scene and Castle Street closed off for a time by police.

A PSNI spokesperson said they wer investigating a "serious assault in which a man was stabbed" on Castle Street.

"Police said enquiries are continuing and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist with enquiries to contact police at Lisburn Road on 101, quoting reference number 1000 of 21/09/20, or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/".
