Three held as police stop van near Westlink in Coalisland theft probe

THREE people were arrested yesterday after police in Belfast stopped a van suspected of involvement in a theft at a commercial premises in Co Tyrone.

The theft happened at about 11.15am in the Dungannon Road area of Coalisland.

It was reported that three people stole several items from the premises including clothing, and fled the area in a white van.

At about 1.30pm, a van matching the description was spotted on the Westlink in Belfast.

Police stopped the vehicle in the nearby York Street area.

Officers recovered the vehicle, which they believe may have been previously stolen in England.

Two men aged 23 and 29 and a 30-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of theft.

They last night remained in police custody.
