Northern Ireland music legend Van Morrison has confirmed a series of socially-distanced live shows in Belfast.

Just days after celebrating his 75th birthday on August 31, the Days Like This performer revealed he will play a three-night run at the Europa Hotel on October 29, 30 and 31.

The popular singer is among the first performers to announce live performances amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

In August, the blues and jazz singer called for coronavirus restrictions to be lifted in order to allow for full-capacity music gigs.

At the time, the performer, who was born in east Belfast, called on "my fellow singers, musicians, writers, producers, promoters and others in the industry to fight with me on this.

"Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up," he said.

Tickets for the upcoming Europa Hotel shows will be sold in pairs or by tables of eight and the maximum number at each show will be 184 as part of measures to adhere to social distancing legislation. The evening will include a drinks reception and two-course supper.

Ticket prices for the first two rows are available at £250 per person, or £2,000 for a table of eight, and all other tickets are £150 per person or £1,200 per table of eight and are available through Ticketmaster.
