The bodies of two men have been found in the same block of flats in Co Armagh just days apart.

Police were called to a flat in the West Street area of Portadown late on Wednesday after the remains of a man were discovered.

He has been named locally as Keith Strain, who is believed to have been in his 50s.

Police returned to the area yesterday afternoon after the body of a second man was discovered in a different flat.

He is believed to be a foreign national.

Police last night said they are not treating the death of Mr Strain as suspicious.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: “A post mortem has been carried out following the sudden death of a man in the West Street area of Portadown.

“Police await further results from a toxicology report but at this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”

In relation to the second grim discovery a spokesman for the PSNI said: “Police are currently at the scene of the sudden death of a man at a flat in the West Street area of Portadown.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to determine the cause of death. There are no further details at present.”

UUP councillor Julie Flaherty offered her condolences to Mr Strain's family.

“He was a very well known character in the town,” she said.
