EXTENSIVE damage was caused to a house in north Belfast following an arson attack early yesterday.

Shortly after 4.30am, it was reported that petrol had been poured through a letterbox in the Glenrosa Link area and set alight.

Damage was caused to the front door, porch, hallway ceiling and upstairs floor of the property.

Smoke damage was also reported throughout the house.

A woman in her forties and a man in his twenties were inside and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

A PSNI spokesman said they are "continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident".
