A man has been shot several times in both legs in a paramilitary-style attack in Bushmills, Co Antrim.

It happened at around 10.40pm last night at the victim's Ballyclogh Road home.

A gang wearing balaclavas and armed with crow bars attacked him in the property and then he was taken into the garden and shot in the legs.

PSNI Detective Inspector Peter McKenna said "no-one deserves to have this happen to them and there is absolutely no justification" for such an attack.

"We must all work together to bring those responsible to justice and to stop this from happening to anyone else."

DI McKenna appealed for information. Crimestoppers can be contated anonymously on 0800 555 111 or at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/
