Another 20 people in Northern Ireland have tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Department of Health.

It brings the total number of cases in the north to 6,576.

No further deaths with Covid-19 have been reported leaving the tally, according to the department, at 559.

There are 10 patients who have tested positive for coronavirus in the north's hospitals, none of whom are in intensive care.

In care homes there are nine outbreaks of Covid-19 with a further six suspected outbreaks.

The figures have been released after statistics from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) showed that seven people died from the disease last week, bringing the total number of deaths to 866.

The death rate recorded by Nisra is substantially higher because it records all deaths where Covid-19 is mentioned on a death certificate.

Daily death figures released by the Department of Health mainly cover coronavirus fatalities in hospital.
