VIDEO footage has been shared on social media which appears to show the moments after a man was struck by a car in north Belfast in an apparent hit-and-run incident.

Police said a man in his forties was knocked down after a grey BMW mounted the pavement on the Antrim Road area around 10.30pm on Friday.

In footage shared on social media the victim can be seen on the ground while a man and a woman stand over him.

It appears the man is being verbally abused and assaulted.

The woman, who appears to be holding what looks like a metal bar, gets back into the car while the man inspects the front of the vehicle for damage.

One onlooker can be heard remarking that the man’s leg is broken.

Yesterday, a 40-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, who had been arrested following the incident, were released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area and has dashcam footage, to contact them.
