Sinn Féin has condemned a vandal attack on the grave of murder victim Warren Crossan.

Mr Crossan (28) was shot dead in west Belfast last month.

His death has been linked to the murder of Dublin gangster Robbie Lawlor in Ardoyne in April

Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey last night said Mr Crossan's headstone and other tributes were destroyed at Milltown Cemetery in the early hours of Thursday.

“Those involved in this attack must be unreservedly condemned," he said.

“Many grieving families find great comfort in visiting cemeteries, they are places of peace and reflection.

“The desecration of a grave is very distressing for any family.”

Mr Maskey said the dead man's family should be left alone to grieve.

“Those involved in this criminality should stop this activity and allow this family to grieve in peace.”
