A 17-year-old boy was punched, kicked and hit by metal bars in an attack in north Belfast early this morning.

The boy was walking along North Queen Street shortly after 1.45am when he was attacked by four men.

The gang stole the boy's mobile phone during the attack.

The boy suffered injuries to his face, arms and back.

Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said: "The male, whose injuries are not believed to be serious was left badly shaken following the incident".

One of the men was wearing a green or brown jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and grey shoes.
