Man (50) charged with drug offences as part of Operation Venetic probe
A man is due to appear in court today charged with a number of offences linked to a major investigation targeting organised crime.
The 50-year-old man is set to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court to face charges of being concerned in the supply of and conspiracy to import a Class A drug and conspiracy to transfer criminal property.
As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
He was detained in the Holywood area as part of the National Crime Agency-led operation, Operation Venetic, which has been targeting organised crime groups using encrypted technology in a bid to evade law enforcement.
Led by the National Crime Agency, it has been described as the UK's biggest law enforcement operation against serious and organised crime.
