Former Tyrone GAA star facing drugs charges

A former Tyrone Gaelic footballer has appeared in court on drugs charges.

All-Ireland winner Peter Loughran (45) was charged with eight counts including supplying cocaine and herbal cannabis last month.

The 45-year-old was on the bench when Tyrone lifted its first All Ireland senior football championship in 2003.

He has also won several county titles and an Ulster championship with club side Errigal Ciaran.

The former sports star, who has an address at Tamnamore Road, Dungannon, appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court last month.

It is reported that his arrest came after a major investigation was launched by the National Crime Agency into organised crime.

A series of arrest operations have been launched across Europe after an encrypted communication network known as EncroChat was hacked.
