Belfast's Donegall Road to close overnight twice in June

The footbridge at Belfast City Hospital train halt which is to be replaced in June 2020

Donegall Road in Belfast will be closed on two Saturday nights this month to allow the removal and replacement of a footbridge at the City Hospital train station.

The road will be closed overnight on Saturday June 13 into June 14 and Saturday June 20 into June 21 to allow a crane to access to the site.

The work had been due to be completed earlier this year but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Translink said the work "will take place in accordance with relevant social distancing requirements to ensure the safety of staff on site and the local community".

Access to the bridge will be restricted from Thursday June 11 although Translink said there will be no disruption to NI Railways services and alternative pedestrian access will be available. It advises passengers to allow extra time for their journey.

The new bridge is not expected to be opened until early August.
