PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins welcomes Ryan Tubridy to Arás an Uachtaráin for the last Late Late Show before the summer break on RTÉ One this Friday.

The presenter revealed the prestigious booking on his Radio 1 show yesterday morning and said the interview would be pre-recorded during the week "in the gardens there".

Joining the president will be Hollywood stars Saoirse Ronan, Colin Farrell and "members of the frontline joining us to salute them".

He said the summer break will be a period of reflection as the team try to work out a new format for the new season when the coronavirus pandemic is likely to mean social distancing is still in place across the world.

"We're going to have to reconfigure, or at least look at, how the show's going to work from September onwards and in terms of the change and the shape," he said.
